Information Technology is a rapidly growing industry, and web and software developers are in high demand (Refer to MBIE Occupation Outlook). The NZ Diploma in Software Development (Level 6) is a two-year "Full-Stack" information technology course that will prepare you for entry into the IT industry.
The first year focuses on web development and design, giving students the skills they need to make their mark in this exciting industry. The programme focuses on the languages used behind most websites today; PHP, SQL and Javascript, developed within a responsive framework, which can render to all devices.
In the second year, students will use Visual Studio 2022 and Visual Studio code to create client-side and server-side software for tomorrow's world. Students will use C#, ReactJS and React Native to build innovative Web, Mobile and API applications. They will also develop SQL, and SQLite databases.
Students will have more practical time learning and writing code than most 3-year degrees. This means no irrelevant papers or unrelated subjects, as required in most university degrees.
This programme requires all students to complete 20 hours a week face to face.
Graduates of the full two years will receive a New Zealand Diploma in Software Development (Level 6). Some of our graduates have moved into software development roles across a wide range of industries, such as education and e-learning, shipping and freight, healthcare, business and data management, and artificial intelligence.

No, learning the basic constructs of most programming languages will give you the tools you need to understand elementary logic and algorithms, which themselves can be a very good introduction to applied mathematics. Logical thinking and reasoning, coupled with an investigative mind, are far more important skills to have over being a math genius.
