This programme gives students the core skills required for employment in the security industry so that they can begin their pathway towards a range of careers in the security services, armed forces, police, corrections department and more.
Over the duration of this programme, students will gain a broad range of skills and knowledge common to all security officers, use of security equipment, effective communication, professional security practice, knowledge of law and industry, health and safety, and risk awareness.
Students will learn both in the classroom and through practical and physical application. Personal appearance such as hair and general tidiness will be monitored in line with the security industry standards.
This certificate gives students the opportunity to gain credits towards NCEA Level 3. Plus, graduates of this programme aged 18 and over will also be eligible to apply for their Certificate of Approval (COA), an essential requirement when working in the security industry in New Zealand. Successful graduates can move into employment in a range of security roles. This security course is also designed to provide a pathway for further training in the police or defence forces.

You don't need to be fit to begin with! Over the duration of the Security course, we'll train you up to the physical fitness requirements for the industry
We prefer to only take on students who are 17+ as you need to be 18 to gain you Certificate of Approval. The closer you are to 18 at the beginning of the security course, the better. We can still take on 16 year olds, however, they wont be able to get their certificate of Approval during the security course.
