Vaccination Certificate Policy - Information for Students

Vaccination is now our Government’s primary strategy to protect the health of New Zealanders from the impact of the Delta strain of Covid-19 and create a pathway to the return of freedom of movement and social interaction. The new Covid-19 Protection Framework came into effect on 3 December 2021.

The Health and Safety risk assessment, conducted in the context of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and Activate Training Centre Limited’s obligations to staff (employees), contractors, students and visitors, has identified that ATC Vision College has a higher level of overall risk of contracting or spreading Covid-19 due to the nature of the activities undertaken on our sites.

After careful consideration of all of the feedback and information available, and considering the duty of care we have to our employees and others under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 to mitigate the risk and take all reasonable and practical steps to keep our people safe, the following vaccination certificate policy statement has been issued by Activate Training Centre Limited:

From start of business in January 2022, full vaccination against Covid-19, including any required boosters, or a Ministry of Health approved vaccine exemption, will be a requirement for all staff, all students and all contractors coming onsite at all of our campuses, at all levels of the Covid-19 Protection Framework. This proposal will initially apply until end of business, December 2022, and may be revised or extended depending on Government policy and other circumstances arising during 2022.

The reasons that ATC Vision College has reached this decision are:

  1. The “traffic light” Covid-19 Protection Framework announced by the Government will require that ATC Vision College operates only in online and off-campus mode at ‘red’ unless it adopts a vaccine certificate policy.
  2. Feedback has shown there is majority support for students and staff to be vaccinated as the most effective way of ensuring that the campus is a safe environment for all of our on-campus community. It also means we can more effectively manage the requirements of those students and staff who need to interact with schools and other institutions where the Government has already determined vaccination to be mandatory.
