Diploma in Performance Music

 

This programme gives students a chance to advance the development of their chosen stream (vocals, an instrument or songwriting).  The Diploma in Performance Music is a one-year Diploma at Level 6 (equivalent to second-year university) which directly follows on from the prerequisite one-year Diploma in Contemporary Music Level 5.

 

By this stage of the study, students will have developed a high level of skill with continued one-on-one tuition.  This, along with the Diploma in Contemporary music, is a pre-requisite for the Bachelor in Music.

Advanced Performance Music Training

You will study stimulating music subjects that require critical thinking, verbal and written communication as well as showcasing your talent and developing your confidence and professionalism, through a variety of individual and group performances.

 

The course is in a dynamic Christian atmosphere, with a focus on the special context of modern Christian music. You will complete a theology paper and enjoy weekly worship times with other Vision College students, helping you to grow in your faith while taking your musical skills to an advanced level.

COURSE STRUCTURE

This second year of the programme allows students to further develop in their chosen stream (either voice, instrument or songwriting). By this stage, students are developing a high level of skill with the continued one-on-one tuition.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Pre-requisites:

Diploma in Contemporary Music (Level 5)

 

You must:

 - Be a minimum age of 17 years old* and have four years secondary education (NCEA 2) or be a mature student aged over 20
 - Be interviewed and auditioned
 - Students wishing to enrol will need to be at Grade 3 theory level, either ABRSM or Trinity.
 - International students for whom English is a second language must have an IELTS score of 6.0 (academic) with no individual band lower than 5.5, or a recognised equivalent test.
 - Domestic applicants whose first language is not English will be interviewed to assess their level of English competency and may be required to complete a placement indicator test.
 - *International students must be at least 18 years old.
